You welcome to Flip the Script with Vic, your weekly pep talk to expand and shift your perspective. I'm your host, Victoria Nielsen. Together, we'll unwind all the things you thought you knew and awaken to what's possible when you flip the script and take control of your own life. Are you ready? Let's jump on in. Hello, loves. Welcome back to another episode of Flip the Script with Thick. I'm your host, Victoria Nielsen, and today we are talking about transitions and how fucking messy they can be. I have a lot on my heart as I'm in the middle of a really big life transition and I think it's really important to share right now in the midst of it instead of waiting until all of the lessons have come through and become perfectly packaged or until I have the hindsight to really understand.
Speaker A [00:00:55]:
Because I think this is something a lot of people can relate to. I was beginning to listen to a to be magnetic podcast on transitions, and it's something that I've been talking with my friends about. And so, you know what? I said, fuck it. Let's get on the mic and let's just talk and let me share what I'm going through in case it resonates with you. So, as many of you may or may not know, I have been home with my second son, Rocky, for a year now, and I'm transitioning back into a corporate job that no longer feels in alignment. I've known that this corporate job and working in a corporate environment in general is no longer in alignment for me. I've been manifesting this really since 2020, when the pandemic happened, when I had my first son, when I really started questioning and searching and saying, is this what I want in my life? This is what I always thought. I wanted to climb the corporate ladder, to have that title, to have the big ass paycheck, but it wasn't really fulfilling.
Speaker A [00:01:57]:
Me and being home with my kids and helping other women find the power within and have these honest conversations and whatever else wants to unfold for me. That's the why I'm here. And that's what lights me up, and that's what I want to do every single day. And I know there's so many of you that are like, wait, Victoria, I thought you were already doing it. And I am. But I am in this in between phase of saying goodbye to that old timeline and really calling in and stepping into this new timeline, and it's scary. And there are some earthly things that have to be figured out before I can take the big leap. And I really want it all figured out right now.
Speaker A [00:02:41]:
I want to know how the story is going to end. I want to turn all the way to the last page, read the chapter, know that it's all going to be okay. And that's not the case for anything in life. We never know what's going to happen. We as much as we like to think we're in control, the universe is in the driver's seat. We very much can steer our life with our free will and our choices. But if you're open to it and you're co creating with the universe, the universe is going to help speed things up. The universe is going to show you where you're no longer in alignment.
Speaker A [00:03:16]:
Yesterday I had to actually go into the office. I was having some computer issues and things like that. I have never been more uncomfortable. And I cried. There were a lot of tears. And I think it's because I needed to release and start saying goodbye to that old life. But I also was holding so tightly to my expectations of what I wanted to happen, how I wanted it to happen. I already had it planned out in my mind that when I went back to my corporate job, I wasn't going to have to be in the office.
Speaker A [00:03:50]:
Oh, it was fine. If it was going to be remote, I could make it work. And the universe is really showing me that, okay, if I'm ready to up level, which I am, if I'm ready to step into this new higher timeline, you've got to make space for it. You've got to make space for it, and you've got to let go of the things that are no longer in alignment. Even if it's scary, even if you don't know the way forward, even if you feel like you're in this in between space. This in between space can be really magical if you let it unfold and if you come back to trust. And I'm realizing that I'm having to recultivate trust not even just within myself, but within my body and with my connection to the universe. And I'm asking and praying to the universe every single day to show me how good it can be and to show me that I am supported and held.
Speaker A [00:04:43]:
And once you peel that back and realize that it doesn't have to look the way that you thought and you're open to receiving it in whatever way it needs to, you start to realize that these things that are making you really fucking uncomfortable are actually for your highest good, are actually beautiful blessings for you to be able to move forward. I don't think I would be able to fully say goodbye to my corporate job and my corporate salary and all of the quote unquote earthly luxuries that come with the job if I wasn't feeling this uncomfortable right now. I love to tell my clients, the universe talks in whispers, it talks in nudges. It isn't always talking to you in neon road signs, but when you're not paying attention, when you're not doing the thing that you need to do, the universe is like throwing little pebbles at you, right? Well, eventually it's going to throw a big fucking boulder in your way until you listen. And you can either steer in a new direction while the pebbles are coming, or you can have the big catastrophic boulder that's going to upheave your life no matter what. Things are going to change, no matter what. That is the only constant in this life is change. And how resilient and adaptable you are to that change is entirely up to you.
Speaker A [00:06:04]:
And I'm not saying that you can't be upset. I've been really fucking angry and really emotional since last week. And I'm letting myself feel those feelings. I'm letting myself have the little girl tantrum, I mean, literally started sobbing to a random woman yesterday because I got locked out of the office. And that's okay. But today I came back to my mat. I came back to my meditation practice. I came back to this mic to share with you that nobody knows what the fuck they're doing.
Speaker A [00:06:36]:
None of us know. And the more that we can release that expectation of control, the more we are open to being guided and actually open to something bigger and better than we ever thought possible. I thought that I could live this dual life of part corporate work, part soul led work, and I'm seeing that's not the case. But guess what? I also have to admit that to my corporate job and to myself, it's one thing to sit here on this podcast and say, oh, I'm going to leave my corporate job. I'm doing all these things. But you have to put your money where your mouth is. That's the key to actually up leveling and manifesting is yes, you can pray and you can dream and you can hope, but then you have to take inspired action to make it happen. And unless I'm willing to do that, then who am I to sit here and tell you to do anything with your life if I'm not following my own advice? And it can be a hard pill to swallow because change is scary.
Speaker A [00:07:38]:
Change is uncomfortable. But you learn what you're made of when you lean into that change and you open yourself up to new possibilities. When we held our sedona retreat last year with Spirit Mamas, we met this beautiful man named Yukala from the tribe that's at the base of the Grand Canyon. And he talked to us about walking with Spirit and taking the crooked path. And that really stuck with me. And really what he was saying was that you need to walk a different path every single day. People get really stuck in their routines, and there's nothing wrong with that. But to spark change, to spark inspiration, to spark co creation with the universe, sometimes you have to take a different path.
Speaker A [00:08:24]:
You have to go a different way. Maybe you just take a different route on your drive to work, or maybe you decide to go try a new restaurant or take your kids somewhere new, and that is opening you up to so much more. Because now your eyes are open and you're being fully present in the moment with the experiences that are in front of you. When we tread the same path, when we become rote because we're doing the same things over and over again, we're not even paying attention when we're doing them. We are just checking the boxes. We are just zoned out while we drive to work. And that's no way to live or to manifest from being really present with everything that's around you shows you that you're supported, that you're connected, that you can trust what's happening in your life. Because then when you're present, you can ask the universe for signs to say, am I on the right path? Am I doing the right thing? Show me right.
Speaker A [00:09:19]:
And so I ask for those signs when I'm going on a new way to work or when I'm doing anything. And a lot of the times it comes to me in angel numbers, so repeating numbers like 111-2233, I'll see them a lot on license plates or even just random mailboxes and things like that. When I'm feeling insecure or when I'm feeling like I need some support, it's there for you. You just have to ask for it. And so as I'm in the middle of this messy transition, I know that I'm not alone. I know so many of you are waking up right now to the possibility that there is more out there for you. That this thing that you thought that you wanted for your life maybe isn't what you want anymore. And having the courage to even just realize that is huge.
Speaker A [00:10:08]:
But then you have to start taking the baby steps to make it happen. I know that doesn't mean that you need to leave like your corporate job tomorrow. I've been saying I wanted to leave my corporate job since 2021. So it's been two full years of me working up to this and I'm still working up to it. I am still scared of shit of what's on the other side of this. Is it really sustainable, can I do this? But that's how you push past your comfort zone and that's how you expand to be even bigger and brighter than you thought possible. Because we are meant to shine. We are meant to be our most brilliant, authentic selves.
Speaker A [00:10:49]:
And I think the reason I was feeling so uncomfortable in my body yesterday is because it's like I was trying to put an old skin back on. Like I was trying to fit back into the shape of Victoria from 2020. I haven't been in a corporate office since before my first son Sebastian was born at the end of 2019. So it's been three and a half years. And just walking back in that environment made me feel small, made me shrink inside myself. And that wasn't a good feeling, but I needed that to show me how much I've expanded, how much. It really is no longer a fit, because when I'm here in my home, I can talk myself out of it, right? I'm like, oh, I can make it work, okay? I can do this thing even if it's not 100% a right fit anymore. I'm like, okay, yeah, I've got a family.
Speaker A [00:11:37]:
Like, I can make it work. No, I really fucking can't. And it's time to really take those steps forward, those actions forward, because then the universe can meet me. Then the universe can blow me away with the possibilities, because it knows I'm serious. It knows that I'm not over here just blowing smoke up its ass. Like, I'm going to take responsibility. And taking responsibility for your energy, your actions, your life is all you really can do. Because we don't know the outcome of things, right? We can't tell the future.
Speaker A [00:12:14]:
We can't predict what's going to happen. And honestly, setting expectations on those things is what causes things to be really shitty and uncomfortable sometimes. Because we want things or we expect things to go a certain way. But guess what? It's not our responsibility to figure out the how. The universe will figure out the how. If you're willing to say, okay, I'm here. Let's go for it. Let's cultivate trust.
Speaker A [00:12:40]:
And in cultivating that trust, you're coming back to yourself, your inner knowing, your inner guidance every single day. I don't care if you have to come back multiple times a day because you're feeling unsure of yourself, that's fine. This is a time to do that. These are the tools that will get you through coming back to meditation, to journaling, to processing your emotions. I really want to show you that it's messy. Life is messy. There is not one straight line from here to there. It takes a lot of ups and downs to get us there.
Speaker A [00:13:15]:
And today I'm feeling in a down point, and that's okay. Even though the last couple of days, I was in such a high point, thinking how grateful I am for this life, for my boys, for what I'm building and cultivating and all of the opportunities that are showing up for me. And I come back to that gratitude more often than not. But I don't think you have to be perfect. You don't have to feel grateful in every single moment, should you? In more moments than not? Yeah. Because it shows the universe that you want more of these things that make you happy. But I don't want you to fake it. I don't want you to pretend that things are okay when they're not.
Speaker A [00:13:55]:
I don't want you to I don't want you to be a robot. I want you to feel your feelings. If you listen to one of the first episodes of the podcast, I really talk about how important it is to fill your feelings. And right now, I'm in it. I'm in the thick of transition. I'm in the thick of that void in between, and it's really uncomfortable. But I know that it's because I'm up leveling. I know it's because there are so many beautiful things on their way to me, but I've got to make space for it.
Speaker A [00:14:28]:
And you can make space by, yes, of course, quitting the job that makes you unhappy, but you can also make space by crying. You can also make space by moving your body. You can also make space by journaling. It can be really simple. It doesn't have to be this big, elaborate process. And you will discover the tools that work best for you by trying them. You may sit down to try and meditate. I actually tried to sit down and meditate this morning, and I got through five minutes of it, and I was like, no, this isn't what's doing it for me today.
Speaker A [00:15:00]:
I want to go talk to a mic, talk to the camera, share what's on my heart. Because my mind wouldn't stop. My mind was racing. My mind was in this loop of being mad and being upset. And you need to create cognitive dissonance. You need to break that pattern and that cycle in the brain to be able to move forward. And so that is trying a new action. This podcast is new for me.
Speaker A [00:15:26]:
Coming to share with you all instead of running or meditating is new for me, and it's creating the cognitive dissonance I need to begin separating myself from my emotions. Because you want to eventually get to a state where you're just a natural observer. And what I mean by that is that you notice the emotions and the feelings that are happening inside of you, but you don't let them consume you. You say, okay, I'm feeling anxious right now. Why is that? And begin to start asking yourself Why? And diving deeper, and you can look at the things that happen in your life and say, okay, why is that happening? Or what does that mean? Or, that's interesting, instead of putting false meaning on it, or instead of thinking that woe is me, all of this is happening to me, how do you reframe that and say it's happening for you? Change and growth isn't always easy, and it feels really good once you're through it. But when you're in the thick of it, it's hard. And it's okay to acknowledge that it's hard. Everyone on social media, you've seen it acts like, okay, life is just perfect in sunshine and roses, but it's not always.
Speaker A [00:16:42]:
To get to those sunshine and rose moments, you need the rain. You need those moments of low points to appreciate the high points for when you have them. And if you can stop in the midst of whatever's happening to you, whatever transition or period that maybe isn't so comfortable, if you can stop and observe and come from that place and say, okay, this is happening for me, I create my reality. I manifest the things that I want to happen in my life. Can I come from that viewpoint? So for me, the universe is showing me this corporate job is no longer in alignment. I've got to start taking the steps to say goodbye to that. And that's not just to declaring to the world that I'm going to leave, but it's actually okay going to my boss and saying, what does it look like if I maybe move down to part time? What does it look like if I move to another department? I don't know whatever that is. But I've got to start asking those questions and taking those actions so that the universe knows that I'm serious, but also so that I know I'm serious.
Speaker A [00:17:50]:
Right. Because this is a big change and I want to feel supported and know that it is the right thing for me. Right. We all want to know that it's the right thing. And I've got to banish trying to figure out the how and just say all I can do is take the next step forward and then the next step will be revealed. Great if you have this plan that takes you all the way to the end of the path but it's not really how it works a lot of the time. A lot of the time you have to figure out one step, put 1ft in front of the other, what is the next step, what is the next step, what is the next step? And our brain is what's? Jumping ahead to try and fill in the gaps and creating a lot of anxiety within the body and within ourselves because it wants everything figured out. But if you can come back to the place of the heart and come back to that soul led place, you will know that you are supported and cared for and that by excuse me, listening to the whispers of your soul, you are going to be far better off.
Speaker A [00:18:52]:
Even if in the right now it really fucking sucks or it really feels uncomfortable. And so I just want to leave you with this, that you're not alone. If you are feeling this call to awaken, if you are feeling like you are shedding your skin and you are moving into a different version of yourself, I'm so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. I know it's not easy. I know it's really fucking uncomfortable, but you can do it. We're just going to put 1ft in front of the other here. We're going to take one step at a time and we're going to do this thing together because you are worthy of being happy and you are worthy of following your dreams.
Speaker A [00:19:34]:
You deserve these manifestations and these things that you're dreaming of. But we've got to put away the mind, stop worrying about how it's going to happen, when it's going to happen, what way it's going to look, and know that as long as we're listening to the whispers and the nudges, we're moving in the right direction. Thank you so much for tuning in to another episode of Flip the Script with Vic. We have new episodes every single Tuesday. If you are feeling called to dive deeper, I hold space one on one with women who are looking for more, who are looking to lay a foundation for this new version of themselves, learning to simplify and really listen to what their heart has to say, if that is you. If you are looking for that kind of support, you can find more information in the show notes. Thank you so much. Be kind to one another.
Speaker A [00:20:35]:
